The Neuroscience Graduate Student Organization (NGSO) is the association for all students, post-doctoral fellows, and research trainees in the Dominick P. Purpura Department of Neuroscience of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The NGSO seeks to provide services and activities to enhance the academic, professional, and social experience of all individuals within the department.
An NGSO representative attends all faculty meetings and distributes information to NGSO at meetings and via e-mail. Likewise, the representative relays information from NGSO meetings back to the Department Chair and faculty (see Student Representative below).
The NGSO holds course review sections for first year students and mock qualifying exams for second year students to assist them in their academic preparation. The NGSO is also establishing an alumni directory to help students and post-doctoral fellows connect with colleagues in their field.
The NGSO organizes monthly happy hours and other events to promote an interactive community.
